Sample Support Scenarios The following scenarios illustrate the kind of service that you will be receiving with the monthly service package. These are just example scenarios that reflect real-life situations: Scenario #1: 2:00 PM: Karen is having problems making music CDs on her new CD burner. She decides she needs the help of a BayouPC associate. 2:05 PM: Karen emails BayouPC, explains her problem, and requests assistance. 2:30 PM: Mike, a BayouPC associate, reads her email and makes a quick response. Mike explains that a remote connection will be necessary to solve this problem. He also notifies her that he will make a remote connection to her computer around 5:00pm that same evening. 5:00 PM: Mike connects to Karen's computer. 5:01 PM: Karen is thirsty and decides to go get a glass of ice tea. 5:20 PM: During the remote session, Mike discovers that Karen has installed the incorrect driver version for her new CD writer. Mike downloads the correct software onto his computer, then he uploads and installs the correct software onto Karen's computer. This takes approximately 20 minutes. 5:21 PM: Karen sips on her tea and finishes watching a Sienfeld re-run 5:22 PM: Mike leaves a note on Karen's desktop stating that her new Cd writer should work correctly now, and if she needs further assistance to contact us and we will get back to her immediately. 5:30 PM: Karen returns to her computer and reads the note Mike left. Karen starts up her new CD writer and makes her first music CD. 5:35 PM: Karen exclaims, "Hooray!" Scenario #2: 10:00 AM: Karen calls the BayouPC help line and explains to Mike that her computer will not start-up. She explains that when she attempts to start her computer, she gets a pitch-black screen with white letters that says, "Invalid System Disk." 10:01 AM: Mike asks her if she has a floppy disk in her floppy drive. Karen asks, "What's a floppy disk and a floppy drive?" Mike explains that a floppy disk is a small, flexible disk that is used for storing data. He also explains what a floppy drive is and where to locate it. He then tells her that if there is a floppy disk in the drive to remove it by pushing the eject button. 10:04 AM: Karen finds the floppy drive and pushes the eject button and a floppy disk pops out. Mike informs her to remove the floppy disk and set it aside. Mike tells her that her computer should start up normally now. 10:05 AM: Karen restarts her computer and it starts up normally 10:06 AM: Karen exclaims, "Hooray!" Scenario #3: 11:30 PM: Karen's daughter K'Anne has a paper due tomorrow morning for history class. She is writing an essay on the accomplishments of Abraham Lincoln. To K'Anne's chagrin, Karen accidentally deleted it and emptied the recycle bin. Now K'Anne has to redo her whole paper and probably get no sleep tonight. 11:35 PM: K'Anne asks Karen, "I wonder if BayouPC can help us get my paper back?" Karen calls the BayouPC help line and explains the problem. 11:40 PM: Mike is on the ball as usual and immediately conducts a remote session on Karen's computer. Mike installs and runs some software that attempts to retrieve deleted data. Mike knows that even if you empty the recycle bin, chances are you can still retrieve your data if the file isn't too big and it hasn't been there for very long. 11:55 PM: Mike finds the file and restores it to its' previous state. Mike has now officially saved the day. 11:56 PM: Both Karen and K'Anne exclaim, "Hooray!" Scenario #4: Saturday, 6:15 PM: Karen's home computer is really giving her a headache. Lately she has noticed that her computer seems slow and sluggish. Her computer at work seems so much faster and more responsive. She wonders if there is any way that she can speed up her home computer. She uses the online assistance form to submit her question. Saturday, 6:35 PM: Mike reads her question and looks up her computer specifications on his computer. Mike does some research and finds out that she could upgrade her memory from 128mb of RAM to 256mb of RAM. This hardware upgrade can be purchased at the local Office Depot for $50.00. Mike knows that twice as much RAM on her computer would really speed things up. Saturday, 6:45 PM: Mike responds to her by email and explains the situation. Mike tells her that if she purchases the RAM tomorrow, Mike would be glad to come by and install it Sunday afternoon around 11:30. Karen takes Mike's advice and plans on purchasing the memory the next day. Sunday, 9:15 AM: Because Mike told her exactly what kind of memory to purchase, Karen just goes to Office Depot and hands the "computer guy" a piece of paper explaining the exact type of memory she needs. Karen's memory purchase is a success. Sunday, 11:30 AM: Mike stops by and installs the new hardware onto Karen's computer. Sunday, 11:40 PM: The installation is a success. Mike then does performance tweaking on her machine to make it even faster and more reliable. Sunday, 11:45 PM: Karen can notice a difference in the speed and performance of her computer immediately. Sunday, 11:46 PM: Once again Karen exclaims, "Hooray!" |
